E&E Foundation Seeks Support to Build Shelter for Abandoned and Vulnerable Twins.

The E&E Foundation has appealed to stakeholders, philanthropists and twin lovers to support its plan to build an orphanage for vulnerable and abandoned twins who have no shelter.

The appeal was made by the CEO of the Foundation, Ernestina Prah, during the “I Am A Twin” Conference held at Mikado in Accra.

According to her, the Foundation often receives distress calls about twins in difficult situations, including twins born to mentally challenged mothers and orphans who lack food and proper care.

“We get calls like, ‘I have seen twins here, the mother is mentally challenged, come for them.’ Some are orphans who don’t have what to eat and live in faraway places. That is why we want to build an orphanage for these needy twins. We are calling on all stakeholders to help us,” she said.

She particularly called on well-to-do twins and lovers of twins to come on board and support the project to provide a safe home for vulnerable twins.

Madam Prah also encouraged parents of twins not to see their children as a burden but as a blessing.

She said, “The fact that you have given birth to twins doesn’t mean it is a burden. God knows why He brought them to your house. Keep up the good work and continue raising champion twins who will impact Ghana and beyond.”

She advised twin parents to remain committed, noting that they are raising future leaders who will make the nation proud.

Touching on the Foundation’s mission, she said its ultimate priority is to ensure that every twin, especially the vulnerable, lives with dignity and integrity.

“When we go on outreach, we realize that most twins are born in poor communities and their parents face serious challenges. I am a twin myself.

My father was a headmaster, yet he had to pay everything in double. It was not easy. Imagine a farmer who never planned for twins but ends up with two babies.

The emotional and financial burden is huge. That is why E&E Foundation exists – to support needy twins. They are our first priority,” she explained.

The General Secretary of the Diplomatic Envoys to the UN and former parliamentary candidate for Gomoa East, Samuel Aryee Quaye, advised parents who are divorced or separated to put aside their differences and jointly take care of their children.

According to him, failure to co-parent properly has a negative effect on the child’s upbringing and future.

He explained that a child may not understand that the parents are no longer on talking terms, and will want to go to either the father or the mother. If not properly guided, the child may end up in the wrong company and get spoiled.

He therefore urged parents to come together for the sake of their children’s welfare, even after separation.
