E/R:Fear Grips Akyem Hemang Residents After Shooting Incident; Traditional Ruler Urges Calm

 

EASTERN REGION: Residents of Akyem Hemang in the Eastern Region say fear and tension continue to grip the community, about a week after a man identified as Douglas was reportedly shot by an alleged military officer.

According to the residents, the incident has heightened concerns over their safety, with some calling on the Ghana Police Service to expedite investigations into the matter and ensure that those responsible are brought to book.

The residents also said the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has denied involvement in the shooting and are therefore urging the police to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to establish the facts.

Meanwhile, the Akyem Hemanghene, Osabarima Mminrikkissi Okasum Apori Atta I, has appealed to the youth and residents to remain calm while the police conduct their investigations.

The traditional ruler urged anyone with credible information about the incident to report to the police to assist investigators in establishing what transpired and bringing the matter to a proper conclusion.
