Akrofoa to Asempanaye Road Blocked After Heavy Flooding Destroys Properties and Farmlands – Residents Cry for Help
Residents of Akrofoa and Asempanaye are stranded as the main road linking the two communities has been completely blocked in the Offinso North District following severe flooding that has destroyed properties and vast farmlands.
The flooding, caused by days of heavy downpour, has rendered the road impassable, making daily life a nightmare for the affected citizens.
According to residents, traders are unable to transport their goods to market, school children cannot go to school, and farmers are counting their losses as their crops have been washed away.
The situation has sparked anger and frustration among the citizens who are now making a passionate appeal to authorities for immediate intervention.
“Use The DRIP Machines For Us, Not For Yourselves”
The aggrieved residents are calling on their District Chief Executive (DCE) to deploy the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines to clear and reshape the road.
They allege that the machines meant for community development are not being used to serve the people.
“We are appealing to our DCE. The DRIP machines were brought to help us, so he should use them to manage our road by clearing it. It is very difficult to use the road for our daily market activities. The DCE shouldn’t use the machines for his own private things, we need the machines to work on our road,” a resident lamented.
Appeal to MP: We Still Trust You
The residents also sent a strong message to their Member of Parliament (MP), urging him not to abandon them because his party is not in power.
They stated that they still have confidence in him as a man of action and are counting on him to collaborate with the DCE to bring relief.
“The MP shouldn’t think that because his government is not in power he will sit idle. We trust him and we know he is a man of action. Therefore, they should collaborate and help us,” another resident added.
They are pleading with both the DCE and the MP to put politics aside and work together in the interest of the suffering communities before the situation worsens.
As of the time of filing this report, the road remains blocked with no sign of any earth-moving equipment on site.
Residents say if urgent action is not taken, the communities could be cut off completely from essential services.
