E/R: Akyem Juaso Chief Inspires Pupils, Donates Learning Materials to Promote Quality Education.
Akyem Juaso, Eastern Region- The Chief of Akyem Juaso, Barimah Kofi Asante Amaniampong II, has urged pupils to prioritize education and shun social vices as part of activities marking this year’s Ohum Festival.
The chief made the call during a special visit to Juaso D/A Basic School, where he engaged pupils, teachers, and community members on the importance of academic excellence and discipline.
Addressing the gathering, Barimah Kofi Asante Amaniampong II cautioned students against engaging in illegal mining and other activities that could derail their future. He said education remains the surest path to personal success and national development.
To motivate final-year pupils, the chief announced a scholarship package for students who excel in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). He said the initiative is aimed at rewarding hard work and inspiring more pupils to strive for academic excellence.
He also called on teachers to continue nurturing pupils both academically and morally, and urged parents and guardians to provide guidance, discipline, and support to help their children succeed in school and in life.
As part of his commitment to improving learning outcomes, Barimah Kofi Asante Amaniampong II donated educational materials to Juaso D/A Basic School to support effective teaching and learning.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Inspector Togbenu Gabriel of the Ghana Police Service advised the pupils to uphold discipline, punctuality, patriotism, obedience, and the fear of God. He said these values would help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
Mr. Jonard Opare Akuffo, Fanteakwa South District Ambulance Service Commander, took the pupils through emergency preparedness.
He noted that the National Ambulance Service is committed to training pupils and community members on how to respond to emergencies before professional help arrives, in order to save lives and reduce preventable deaths.
The chief’s visit forms part of efforts to use the Ohum Festival celebrations not only to preserve culture and tradition, but also to promote education, discipline, and community development among the youth of Akyem Juaso.
