ABOFOUR DESERVES BETTER: Community Makes Collective Appeal Over Deplorable State of Police Station
By NobleNews | Abofour, Offinso South – September 6, 2026.
This is Abofour – and this is our police station.
For more than 30 years, this has been the state of the Abofour Police Station. A building that many residents pass by every day, in the same dire and painful condition.
We are a town that could have been a district capital if Offinso Central had materialized. We are home to one of the largest markets in the Ashanti Region and indeed Ghana.
Abofour has produced leaders. An MP who served for 12 years and is now seeking a comeback.
An MCE who now seeks to return to Parliament as an MP. The biggest philanthropist in Offinso today is also from Abofour.
Abofour has produced successful business people, professionals, and political leaders.
And yet, look at the condition of our police station.
Our police officers continue to serve, protect and maintain security for the community under these circumstances. The same building also serves as accommodation for some of the officers.
They deserve a decent working environment. Our community deserves a police station that reflects the importance and potential of Abofour.
So, what are we doing about it as a people?
We have come to realize that community development does not happen when everyone tries to solve problems individually. It happens when we have vibrant and visionary youth who build alliances for the greater good.
Let us look at Mampong.
The beautiful police station many of us admire today was not built by the government.
It was built by one individual – Agya Wiase – who understood that improving security was not only the government’s responsibility.
He used his own resources, constructed the facility, and handed it over to the government.
That is how communities are built. It is about individuals, businesses, traditional authorities, political leaders, professionals and ordinary citizens identifying problems and deciding to do something about them.
It is painful that what our MP attempted to develop has now become a white elephant. Why are we allowing political choices and ideological differences to take precedence over the needs of our community? Here in Offinso, politics must never become more important than the people.
This is a collective call.
This is not about NDC and NPP. This is not about who built it or who gets the credit.
The question we must all answer is: *What are we producing for Abofour?*
If one individual in Mampong could recognise the importance of investing in community security, surely the collective strength of Abofour can do the same.
We are therefore calling on all – natives home and abroad, traditional authorities, business owners, philanthropists, professionals, the youth, and political leaders – to stop waiting for government alone. Let us stop allowing politics to divide us on matters that affect all of us.
Let us bring our resources, influence, knowledge and networks together and fix what we can.
Abofour must begin to think beyond politics and start thinking about community. Because ultimately, when the politics is over, Abofour remains and the police station will still be here.
