Petition filed over sexual remarks by Frank Amoakohene

Petition filed over sexual remarks by Frank Amoakohene.

Two Ghanaian citizens, Barbara Twum and Jennifer Owusu, have petitioned President John Dramani Mahama, calling for action against the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, over alleged sexually offensive and misogynistic remarks directed at former National Youth Authority Deputy Chief Executive, Akosua Manu.

In a petition dated 9 June 2026 and submitted to the Executive Secretary at Jubilee House, the petitioners are urging the President to invoke Section 6 of the Presidential Code of Conduct and Ethics (2025) to investigate and sanction the minister.

They are calling for disciplinary action, which could include a formal reprimand or the termination of his appointment.

According to the petition, the alleged remarks were made in a social media post attributed to the minister, which included a statement directed at Ms Manu and described by the petitioners as sexually explicit and degrading.

The petitioners argue that the comments constitute sexual harassment and amount to a breach of ministerial standards, adding that they violate provisions of the Presidential Code of Conduct relating to dignity, professionalism and respect for citizens, particularly women.
