Clash Alleged at Offinso Technical Institute After Eid al-Adha Prayers

Offinso, Ashanti Region – 29th May 2026,Sources have indicated that a clash occurred at Offinso Technical Institute yesterday, 28th May 2026, following Eid al-Adha prayers, involving students and members of the surrounding community.

According to the sources, the dispute stems from an incident last Saturday. After some students visited town, a mobile phone was reported missing.

Sources allege suspicion fell on colleagues who had returned from school, prompting some town residents to visit the school to make inquiries.

The situation reportedly escalated into heated arguments between the students and the visiting town residents.

A teacher on campus at the time contacted police and also invited community leaders. Sources state that by the time police arrived, community leaders had already asked the town residents to leave, and the matter appeared resolved.

Police remained on the scene briefly before departing.

Sources say that the following day, during Eid al-Adha, members of the community joined students to weed around the school park, and no incident occurred at that time.

However, after Eid al-Adha prayers yesterday, sources allege that the earlier argument reignited into another confrontation between students and community members.

Sources claim several students sustained injuries and received beatings from town residents. They further allege that practical equipment was destroyed, walls were damaged, and other items in the school were broken during the incident.

No official statement has been released by Offinso Technical Institute, the Ghana Police Service, or community leaders at the time of publication.
