CATHOLIC LEADERSHIP: Archbishop Anokye Urges Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, Archbishop Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, has called on Catholics to deepen their devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, describing her as “the greatest Saint ever.”

Speaking at the conclusion of the maiden Rosary Congress in Kumasi, Archbishop Anokye reflected on the Solemnity of All Saints, emphasizing that sainthood is attainable for all believers.

During the November 1 event, which drew over 30,000 pilgrims to the Kumasi Jubilee Park, Archbishop Anokye highlighted Mary’s exemplary response to God’s will, saying, “She is the greatest saint ever because she always responded yes to the will of God.”

The Archbishop’s homily served as a reminder to Christians of the importance of emulating Mary’s devotion and obedience.

The Global Rosary Congress, which began in Tamale and continued in Accra before concluding in Kumasi, brought together Catholics for three days of processions, prayer, and Eucharistic celebration.

The event was themed “Jubilee Year of Hope: Consecrating Ghana to the Blessed Trinity through devotion to the Holy Rosary.”

Archbishop Anokye’s call to devotion comes as a call to action for Catholics to follow Mary’s example and deepen their faith.
