GA NORTH: BOUNDARY ISSUES AFFECTING OUR IGF.

 

The Municipal chief Executive for the Ga North in the Greater Accra region has hinted on a possible trim of the Assembly’s Internally Generated funds as a result of a protracted boundary issues faced by the Assembly, since the creation of a Municipality.

According to him, the problem stems from what is described as improper demarcation during the gerrymandering process where some new Municipalities were created from the already existing ones.

According to MCE, the issue has really affected the Assembly’s generated revenue.

Recounting on his steps taken to address the situation, Mr. Akwetey Agbo hinted on inviting all the representatives of the adjoining municipalities including the Ga West and the Ga Central.

Hon. Akwetey Agbo believes that, mediation is so vital to address the boundary challenges involving the Ga centred Municipalities.

He underscored the importance of revoking the L.i used in gerrymandering of the Municipalities in Ghana to resolve the matter.

These revelations follow the 2023 and 2024 report that unearthed the boundary related problems.

In the add up, Hon. Akwetey Agbo disclosed that, most of the Assembly’s IGF is collected from the Markets and the Transport services but poor road networks and lack of proper trading spaces has declined to Internally generated funds.
