Police Crackdown on Illegal Mining in Eastern Region: 27 Arrested, Equipment Seized.

The Ghana Police Service has conducted a successful anti-illegal mining operation at Ankaase Gyadam, near Asamang Tamfoe in the Eastern Region, resulting in the arrest of 27 suspects.

The operation, which was intelligence-led, also led to the seizure of significant equipment and weapons.

The police seized 11 excavators, 1 bulldozer, 1 pump-action shotgun, 3 saloon vehicles, 1 Mitsubishi pickup truck, 1 pick loader, water pumping machines, and other mining equipment from the illegal mining sites.

All 27 suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.

The exhibits have been secured, and further action is expected to be taken .
