Afenyo-Markin: Former Chief Justice Torkornoo Will Return if NPP Wins 2028; Urges Party to Stay Courageous

Majority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has stated that former Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo could return to office if the New Patriotic Party regains power and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia becomes president in 2028._

Speaking during the NPP demonstration when the group arrived at the offices of the Economic and Organised Crime Office, Afenyo-Markin addressed party supporters, urging women organisers and NPP leaders to intensify efforts to return the party to power.

He encouraged NPP members to remain courageous and not be discouraged by what he described as the arrest of party members under the current NDC administration.

“The NDC is arresting our members, but do not be discouraged,” he told the gathering._

The Majority Leader also issued a caution to the Executive Director of EOCO, stating that “time changes” and that the NPP will return to power in 2028.

On the state of the economy, Afenyo-Markin criticised the NDC government for failing to deliver on its 24-hour economy promise. He said Ghanaians are suffering and that even NDC youth are facing hardship and hunger._

“If NPP members get courage and come together as one, Dr. Bawumia will come to power in 2028,” he added.
