NPP Leadership Holds Emergency Meeting Over Chairman Wontumi Court Judgement

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently in an emergency meeting to review the judgement delivered by the Court in the case involving its Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

This was contained in a press release issued by the party on Monday, July 20, 2026, and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Esq.

According to the statement, the meeting, which includes the Party’s Flagbearer and its legal team, is to thoroughly review the court judgement concerning the Samreboi mining matter and to determine the appropriate next course of action.

“The Party will communicate its official position and the decisions arising from these deliberations in due course,” the statement said.

The NPP leadership has in the meantime called for calm and unity within the party.

“In the meantime, I respectfully urge all members of our great Party to rally behind the leadership during this challenging moment.

Let us remain calm, united, disciplined, and steadfast in our commitment to the values and interests of the New Patriotic Party,” Justin Kodua Frimpong appealed.

Chairman Wontumi has been in the news over his alleged involvement in illegal mining activities in the Samreboi area of the Western North Region, a case which has generated huge public and political interest.

The Party is expected to address the media after its emergency deliberations.
