Kumasi Metro STEM Coordinator Seeks Corporate Partnership for Kumasi STEM JHS as Admissions Open

KUMASI – The STEM Coordinator for the Kumasi Metropolitan Education Directorate, Adonten Nana Owoahene Acheampong Atansah, has made a passionate appeal to corporate organizations, philanthropists and individuals to support the Kumasi STEM Junior High School.

According to him, although the school is well-equipped and well-positioned as a centre of excellence, strategic partnerships and sponsorships are needed to sustain its growth and expand practical learning opportunities.

“Kumasi STEM JHS is a very good school. We have the infrastructure, the qualified teachers and the right vision. What we need now is sponsorship and partnership from corporate bodies and individuals.

If we create the awareness, I am confident they will come on board to support us,” he said.

Nana Owoahene Acheampong Atansah explained that such support could be in the form of robotics equipment, computers, science laboratory consumables, scholarships for brilliant but needy students, and funding for innovation fairs and competitions.

He stressed that investing in the school is an investment in the country’s future workforce, as it will help nurture the next generation of scientists, engineers and technology innovators from the basic level.

The appeal coincides with the announcement of admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Coordinator disclosed that admission is open to all pupils who will complete Basic Six by August 2026.

Kumasi STEM Junior High School, a public school under the Ghana Education Service, is located at Asem, near Jubilee Park, opposite the Kumasi Technical University, with the digital address AK-040-0362.

He said admission forms can be obtained at the school premises and at Room 2 of the Kumasi Metro Education Office, from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The sale of forms will end on Friday, July 31, 2026, while the entrance examination for all applicants has been scheduled for Monday, August 3, 2026.

The school offers the approved GES Common Core Programme, enhanced with specialized STEM subjects including Robotics and Coding in Python, Scratch and Arduino, Digital Literacy and ICT Applications, Environmental Science, Engineering Design and STEM Mathematics.

The Coordinator therefore encouraged parents to take advantage of the opportunity to enroll their children, while calling on corporate Ghana to partner with the school in advancing practical STEM education.
