No Witch-Hunt: PAC Assures Fairness as Zonal Hearing Opens in Kumasi.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has paid a working visit to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene to inform him about the Committee’s Zonal Public Hearing in the Region as part of its oversight responsibilities.

In her remarks the Chairperson of the Committee Hon. Abena Osei Asare noted that the Committee has invited District Assemblies and public schools in Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo and Western North Regions that have been cited for infractions in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report on public schools and District Assemblies.

She was of the view that the Committee will exercise its mandates in all fairness without witch-hunting any public institution and also recommend appropriate sanctions where necessary to avoid repetition of such infractions.

In his welcoming remarks, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, commended the Committee for their work, emphasising that the exercise is helping to deepen financial discipline principles in public institutions.

He assured that all recommendations prescribed by the Committee to ensure financial discipline especially at the District Assemblies would be done so long as he remains in office.

The Committee is expected to end its sitting in the Ashanti Region on Friday 24th April 2026.
