GNFS Rescues Passengers After Fatal Bus Crash at Nkonya Bumbula; 2 Dead, Several Injured
A tragic road accident at Nkonya Bumbula in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region has claimed two lives after a 50-seater bus travelling from Accra to Salaga overturned.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the bus reportedly suffered a tyre burst while speeding at a curve, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly to the scene, rescuing trapped passengers and assisting the injured.
The victims were subsequently handed over to ambulance services and transported to the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital for emergency treatment.
Two passengers were confirmed dead on arrival, while several others sustained various degrees of injury.
Firefighters later cleared the wreckage from the road, restoring traffic flow along the affected stretch.
Authorities are expected to launch further investigations into the exact cause of the crash.
