C/R: Tailor in Critical Condition After Allegedly Cutting His Throat with Tailoring Machine at Mankessim

A tailor in his late thirties has allegedly cut his own throat with a tailoring machine and is in critical condition at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

Information gathered by Oyerepa Nana Mankata indicates the victim’s name is being withheld.

He is from Kumasi and was doing tailoring contract work at Mankessim with his apprentices.

Reports say the victim stays at Ajumako Techiman and commutes to work at Mankessim each day.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, the victim went to a friend’s place in Mankessim to rest.

While his friend was out in town, the victim locked himself in the room, plugged in the tailoring machine, and allegedly cut his throat.

Upon returning, the friend found the room locked.

He knocked several times but got no response.

He then forced open the window and saw the machine plugged in, with the victim in a pool of blood, throat slashed, and on the verge of collapse.

The friend quickly called neighbors,who entered through the window and rushed him to Mankessim Roman Hospital.

He was later referred to Korlebu Teaching Hospital.

As of now, his friend and apprentices cannot explain what happened.

They say the victim hadn’t shared any issues with them.

Meanwhile,the family has yet to be informed. The victim remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment.

The case has also been reported to the Mankessim Divisional Police for investigation.
