Afigya Kwabre South MCE Takes Accountability Tour to Residents, Highlights Development Projects

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has embarked on a municipality-wide community engagement and accountability tour to update residents on development projects and government interventions undertaken in their communities.

The initiative forms part of government’s directive for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to engage citizens and account for projects and policies being implemented at the local level.

The exercise, which covers all 27 electoral areas within the municipality, seeks to provide residents with firsthand information on completed projects, ongoing works and future development plans.

Addressing residents during a community engagement session at Adwumakase-Kese, Madam Patricia Pearl Ankrah noted that several development projects have been executed across the municipality over the past one and a half years.

According to her, the Assembly has invested in key sectors including education, healthcare, sanitation and water supply. She mentioned the construction of classroom blocks, health facilities, boreholes, toilet facilities and the clearance of refuse dumps as some of the projects aimed at improving living conditions for residents.

The MCE assured residents that additional projects are in the pipeline and expected to be completed in the coming months to further enhance development within the municipality.

As part of the engagement, Madam Ankrah also presented assorted items to persons living with disabilities, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups in society.

Meanwhile, the Kontihene of Adwumakase-Kese, Nana Yeboah Mensah, announced that the traditional authority has released five acres of land to facilitate the construction of teachers’ quarters in the community.

He explained that the move is intended to address accommodation challenges facing teachers and complement government’s efforts to improve educational standards in the area.
