Sunyani Manhene issues 24-hour evacuation order to galamseyers
There were abrupt end of boundary resolution talks with chiefs from Sunyani Manhene, Atronie and Mansien chief following galamsey operations covering these traditional boundaries.
The three chiefs stormed the galamsey site to identify the exact land the galamsey operators are mining on for informed actions.
The resolution meeting, which was convened to resolve boundary which is springling galamsey activities at Jinijini, Amomaja and other disputed areas between the Sunyani Traditional Area and the Atronie and Wamfi stools, ended abruptly on Friday without any resolution.
Speaking after what was described as failed resolution, the Sunyani Manhene Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahene Korkor expressed frustration over the activities of illegal miners in the disputed lands.
Sunyani Manhene who expressed his displeasure over how the event concluded said he was for peace but feels disrespected on how the talks concluded.
He said the continued presence of galamseyers was worsening tensions between the adjourning communities.
Sunyani Manhene Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahene Korkor called for immediate action from REGSEC, MUSEC and national security to intervene to resolve end galamsey activities.
Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahene Korkor II, has issued a 24-hour evacuation order to all galamseyers operating in disputed areas between Sunyani, Wamfie and Atronie.
Sunyani Manhene sent a serious message to the security agencies in the Bono Region to enforce the evacuation order and clamp down on any mining activity in the affected areas after the deadline expires.
