“GIS Probes Foreigners in Upper West Over Alleged Illegalities”

“GIS Probes Foreigners in Upper West Over Alleged Illegalities”

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has launched an investigation into reported cases of illegalities by non-citizens in the Upper West Region.

The probe follows concerns raised by citizens about non-compliance with Ghanaian laws.

Alleged infractions include foreigners holding Ghana Cards instead of Non-Citizen Ghana Cards, engaging in retail businesses without proper authorization, overstaying visas, and engaging in prostitution.

Others include owning properties and business SIM cards that should be registered with a citizen’s Ghana Card.

The Upper West Regional Public Relations Officer of the GIS, Inspector Ibn Yussif Duranaah, has urged residents to provide information to aid the investigation and appealed for calm while the probe is ongoing.

The GIS is expected to take decisive action against those found to be in breach of the law.
