Head-On Collision on Senya-Bonsuaku Highway Leaves Four in Critical Condition
A devastating head-on collision between two Sprinter buses on the Senya-Bonsuaku highway in the Awutu Senya West District has left four people in critical condition. The accident occurred on Tuesday at around 4:00 AM, and nineteen passengers were involved.
According to reports, one of the buses, with registration number GR 5137-18, was traveling from Kasoa to Senya Bereku with one passenger and a load of foodstuffs.
The second bus, with registration number AC 804-14, was heading in the opposite direction from Senya Bereku to Kasoa with multiple passengers.
An eyewitness, Mr. Kennedy Ewuah, attributed the accident to poor visibility caused by cloudy weather, which led to the driver of the bus carrying foodstuffs losing control.
Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles with broken legs and were rescued with the help of nearby residents.
They were rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, where four victims are currently receiving treatment in critical condition.
The rest of the passengers have been transferred to Hope Christian Hospital and the Senya Polyclinic.
“Drivers should exercise caution, especially during early morning hours and adverse weather conditions, to help prevent such accidents.” – DSP Kingsley Asante, Senya Bereku District Police Commander.
The police commander has urged drivers to be vigilant and cautious on the roads, particularly during adverse weather conditions, to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
