Wassa Dikoto Chief Commissions Community Health Centre To Improve Healthcare Delivery

Wassa Dikoto —The people of Wassa Dikoto in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region have commissioned a new Community Health Centre aimed at improving access to quality healthcare in the area.

The facility, initiated by the Chief of Wassa Dikoto, Nana Ntiako Agyiri II, is expected to serve Dikoto and surrounding communities including Ankasie, Bonsie and other parts of Wassa.

The project received significant financial and material support from the Nkosuohene of the area, Nana Kuku Poku I, to ensure its completion.

Speaking at a colourful durbar to commission the centre, Nana Ntiako Agyiri II said his decision to build the clinic was motivated by the challenges faced by residents, particularly pregnant women, children and the elderly, who had to travel long distances to Wassa Akropong and Wassa Dadieso to access healthcare.

“Our people were dying from preventable diseases and snake bites because there was no clinic here. As a chief, I cannot watch my people suffer. That is why I took it upon myself to build this clinic for my people,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to Nana Kuku Poku I for his immense contribution and appealed to the Ghana Health Service and the Wassa Amenfi East Municipal Assembly to post health personnel and provide essential drugs and equipment to make the facility fully operational.

For his part, Nana Kuku Poku I said he was delighted to be part of the historic project and pledged his continuous support for the development of Wassa Dikoto.

He urged residents to take good care of the facility and patronize it to ensure its sustainability.

Representatives of the Amenfi East Municipal Health Directorate commended the chiefs for their visionary leadership and assured the community that efforts would be made to staff and operationalize the clinic as soon as possible.

Residents of Dikoto described the health centre as a dream come true, noting that it will save lives and reduce the burden of travelling long distances for medical care.
