VRA-NEDCo Rolls Out Electronic Billing System, Seeks Customer Support and participation

The Deputy Station Supervisor at the Dormaa Ahenkro VRA-NEDCo Station, Mr. Roland Kwame Abutiate has announced the introduction of an Electronic Billing (E-Billing) system by VRA- NEDCo to provide customers with a paperless billing service and make electricity bill payments more convenient.

He explained that the initiative is not solely a VRA-NEDCo decision but also responds to customers’ request for a more convenient billing system aimed at reducing the stress associated with receiving and paying electricity bills.

According to him, customers who subscribe to the E-Billing service will receive their electricity bills directly on their mobile phones, eliminating the need for paper bills emphasizing that the system will also include a short code for payment, allowing customers to pay their electricity bills immediately after receiving them.

He therefore called on customers to support and actively participate in the new system to ensure its successful implementation.

Mr. Abutiate stated that NEDCo will deploy personnel to various residences across the country as part of the E-Billing rollout.

He disclosed that these workers will be identifiable by their NEDCo uniforms and identification badges stressing that they will request comprehensive information regarding the meter and pertinent customer details to facilitate the commencement of the E-Billing system

He emphasized that this initiative aims to alleviate stress and enhance service delivery.

Mr. John Anim Peprah, the Dormaa Ahenkro Station Supervisor at VRA-NEDCo, addressed concerns regarding overbilling by stating that thorough investigations are conducted into claims of overbilling to determine the underlying causes.

He emphasized that certain bills, even if deemed overbilled, must be settled by the meter owner due to negligence that led to the disputed charges.

Consequently, he highlighted the importance of focusing on wiring and related issues to prevent instances of overbilling.

He noted that any upward adjustment in electricity rates could result in an automatic increase in one’s electricity bill as well.
