Trobu MP Demands Action on Ofankor Barrier Flooding Crisis

Accra– The Member of Parliament for Trobu, Hon. Gloria Owusu, has formally questioned the government on measures being taken to end the chronic flooding at Ofankor Barrier.

Hon. Owusu raised the issue on the floor of Parliament today during question time with the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei.

She pressed for a clear update on interventions by the Ministry to tackle the perennial floods that plague the area whenever it rains.

Ofankor Barrier is a notorious flood hotspot in the Greater Accra Region. Heavy downpours routinely leave the stretch inundated, crippling traffic flow and cutting off commuters and residents in the Trobu constituency and beyond.

The MP’s query adds to mounting public frustration over recurring floods at major traffic bottlenecks across Accra. With the rainy season underway, residents say lasting engineering solutions are overdue.

The Minister is expected to outline the Ministry’s short- and long-term mitigation plans in his official response to Parliament.
