C/R: DEPUTY ENERGY MINISTER CUTS SOD FOR 24-HOUR MARKET, PLEDGES ELECTRICITY SUBSTATION FOR GOMOA WEST.

 

The Deputy Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, has announced plans to establish a dedicated electricity substation in the Gomoa West District to address the persistent low-voltage challenges affecting residents.

Speaking during the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 24-hour market complex at Apam Junction,

Hon. Gyan-Mensah revealed that 66 communities in the district are currently benefiting from ongoing electricity extension projects.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving power supply to support development and enhance the living conditions of residents.

The Deputy Minister also stated that the construction of the 24-hour market forms part of broader efforts to modernize trading centres across the district, create employment opportunities, and stimulate economic growth.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempong Nyamful Krampa XI, commended the government for rolling out the 24-hour market initiative across the three Gomoa districts, describing it as a major investment that will boost commerce and improve livelihoods.

The District Chief Executive for Gomoa West, Hon. Mohammed Kassim, appealed to the contractor to prioritize the employment of local youth during the construction of the market.

He also urged young people in the district to safeguard the project by avoiding theft of construction materials and supporting its successful completion.
