Abofour, Offinso South – The Chief Imam of Abofour Mallam Issah Musah has issued a strong warning against intervening on behalf of individuals found guilty of drug-related offences in the area, speaking with the meda after Eid al-Adha prayers at the Adabiya Islamic School Park.

In his address, the Chief Imam Mallam Issah Musah said community members should not plead for any child caught selling or using drugs, regardless of family ties.

He noted that “we know it’s our own children who sell or are addicted to drugs,” and stressed that the community has already opened its doors for families to bring offenders forward for counselling and support.

He added that refusing to plead for offenders should not prevent anyone from participating in community programs against drug abuse within the week.

We know the challenges  Mr Foster Ibrahim is currently facing to pre-financig this program,he is looking for fellow youths in joining hands, seeking for sponsorship but yet still no one is showing up.

“We have put in place so many measures to deal with drug dealers and you might not be aware of the ideas behind them,” he said.

The Chief Imam Mallam Issah stated that the fight against drugs would be pursued without exception. “We will fight back anyone whether you are an Assemblyman, Chief Imam, MCE, MP, whoever, if you plan to plead for any drug dealer,” he said.

“It’s our responsibility to fight against drugs. It’s killing our youth too much.”

The remarks came after recent ‘Say No to Drugs’ campaigns in Abofour and form part of ongoing efforts by local religious and community leaders to curb drug use and trafficking in the area.

Community members attending the Eid celebration expressed support for the message, citing concerns over the impact of drug abuse on young people in the constituency.
