Juaben Assembly Disburses Disability Fund to 22 Beneficiaries in Socio-Economic Empowerment Drive
In a significant step toward inclusive development and social protection, the Juaben Municipal Assembly has extended financial and material assistance to twenty-two (22) persons living with disabilities (PWDs) under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) Disability Fund.
The disbursement, which took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, forms part of government’s broader commitment to alleviating the socio-economic constraints confronting vulnerable groups, particularly persons with disabilities within the municipality.

The beneficiaries received a combination of essential livelihood equipment, including refrigerators and other working tools, carefully tailored to enhance their economic productivity.
The intervention is expected to empower recipients to venture into or expand income-generating activities such as petty trading, agriculture, and other entrepreneurial pursuits.
Additionally, some beneficiaries indicated their intention to channel the support into addressing critical health and educational expenditures.

Addressing the beneficiaries at the presentation ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Juaben, Hon. Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, underscored the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to promoting economic inclusion and reducing inequality among marginalized populations.
She emphasized that the initiative is not merely a social intervention but a strategic empowerment mechanism designed to foster self-reliance and improve the overall quality of life of persons living with disabilities.
Hon. Ansu further disclosed that government is actively considering an upward review of the Disability Fund allocation from the current three percent to five percent of the District Assemblies Common Fund.
According to her, this proposed increment will significantly broaden the scope of support and enable more beneficiaries to access life-changing assistance.
She urged recipients to exercise prudence, discipline, and strategic planning in utilizing the support provided, stressing that effective resource management is critical to achieving long-term economic sustainability.

“Let this support serve as a foundation upon which you can build sustainable livelihoods. With determination, proper planning, and commitment, you can transform these opportunities into lasting economic independence,” she advised.
The MCE also encouraged beneficiaries to remain resilient in the face of challenges and to leverage the support as a stepping stone toward financial stability and social inclusion.
Some of the beneficiaries, in brief interactions, expressed profound gratitude to the government and the Municipal Assembly for the timely intervention, noting that the assistance would go a long way in easing their financial burdens and improving their standard of living.

The Disability Fund under the District Assemblies Common Fund remains a critical policy instrument aimed at empowering persons with disabilities through targeted support for income-generating ventures, capacity building, and enhanced access to essential services.
The initiative continues to play a pivotal role in advancing inclusive governance and equitable development across the country.
