Offinso North, Ashanti Region: The Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has called for increased public awareness on early detection of mild mental health conditions, saying timely intervention can prevent long-term complications.
Speaking during a community engagement with community through ASFOR radio Dr. Asamoah stressed that many mental health issues start small but escalate when ignored.
“Early detection of mild mental health conditions allows for highly effective treatment that can halt symptom progression and lead to full recovery,” Hon. Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah MP Offinso North stated.
The MP urged constituents to break the stigma around mental health and seek help early. He noted that treatment at the mild stage is often less intensive, more affordable, and has higher recovery rates compared to late-stage intervention.
Dr. Asamoah also pledged his support for local health facilities to strengthen mental health screening and counseling services in Offinso North.
His comments come amid growing national conversations on mental health access and awareness across Ghana.
