ATWIMA NWABIAGYA SOUTH MCE INAUGURATES POLAS ABUAKWA DIVISIONAL CHAPTER

 

The Municipal Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah (OKUMKOM), has officially inaugurated the Police Ladies Association (POLAS) Abuakwa Divisional Chapter (Royal Ladies) to strengthen law enforcement and build the capability of women in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District.

The ceremony brought together religious bodies, past MP’S, MCE, institutions, and others in the municipality

Speaking at the Inuagra Ceremony held in Abuakwa, Municipal Chief Executive, Hon.Wisdom Osei Boamah stated that, the Association will bring about unity and foster development among POLAS and Society as a whole.

Hon. Boamah praised the hard work of Abuakwa Police ladies over the period, encouraging them to emulate their past leaders for the success of the Association.

On her part, POLAS national president, Commissioner of Police, and the Special Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Maame Tiwaa Addo -Danquah said the formation of the Police Ladies Association, Abuakwa Divisional Chapter was to identify challenges confronting POLAS Ladies, and find solutions to address these menaces.

According to her in Ashanti, POLAS members are over 2000 made up of Ashanti South, North, and Ashanti therefore inuagration of the Abuakwa Chapter is to widen up members to make sure no lady is left behind, to shape policy, take action in the decision-making process, and rise up to the needed minimum standards in society.

Maame Yaa Tiwa -Danquah noted that the police transformation agenda would only become a reality if Policewomen supported in stemming the adverse tide within the service for the Citizenry to repose confidence and truth in it.

On recounting how POLAS WAS Formed, COP Yaa Tiwaa said the formation of the Police Ladies Association was to get a mouthpiece to shape policy, and assist women to rise up in any field through leadership training, and capability building workshops where talent can be achieved.

Another idea POLAS was form she said was to identify the potential of members and enroll them through training to navigate to meet competing schedules.

Adding as part of the benefit of the Association is to provide for themselves what the Police Services are unable to provide.POLAS is not taking work off the police service but rather complements the work of the police through all forms of developmental training, empowering Ladies and reaching out through these knowledge-driven agendas.

” My advice to you all is to be proactive and united in the field of work. Adding that Policemen are there to provide support in your work in diverse but they must endeavour to show commitment and dedication since the role comes with responsibility. “She stressed.

She therefore commends the hardworking effort of the MCE in making sure POLAS rise to the minimum of fulfilling their mandate.

Speaking in an Interview with media DSP Emelia Pomaah Kwakye advised members to exhibit commitment and dedication in the discharge of duties.
