“Prayers for a Fruitful Year: St. Vincent de Paul Day Care Celebrates”
St. Vincent de Paul Day Care, a unit of Safe-Child Advocacy, recently celebrated their Opening Mass to kick off the new calendar and academic year.
The ceremony was led by Rev. Fr. Edward, a diocesan priest from St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica, Kumasi, who encouraged the children to take Jesus as their friend and strive to be obedient, respectful, and well-behaved.
During his homily, Rev. Fr. Edward reminded the pupils that Jesus continues to call each of them personally, just like he did with the twelve disciples.
He urged them to avoid fighting, stealing, and other behaviors that don’t honor Jesus, and instead demonstrate their friendship with him through good behavior, especially towards parents, teachers, and elders.
The Mass was attended by staff, parents, and children, and included prayers for God’s blessings and protection over the school.
The pupils even learned a simple song, “I have a friend, His name is Jesus,” which they sang with excitement, earning them small gifts of toffee.
Sr. Victoria Kotetane, DC, Headmistress of the Day Care, expressed gratitude to the staff, parents, and Rev. Fr. Edward for their commitment and participation, acknowledging the unwavering support of Safe-Child Advocacy in enhancing the growth and quality of the Day Care Centre.
