Theft Foiled at Asawase St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
A brazen thief was caught at Asawase St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi on 22nd January2026.
The man, reportedly in his early 50s, pretended to be a devoted Catholic, carrying a Holy Rosary and entering the adoration room to pray.
However, his true intentions were exposed when he was spotted by vigilant youths attempting to break into the adoration room’s money box.
The suspect was apprehended and handed over to the authorities.
According to eyewitnesses, the thief had a master key to the offering box and was selectively taking high-denomination notes, leaving coins behind.
Parishioners are shocked by the audacity of the crime, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance.
The church has urged members to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity. The suspect is currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
