DSTV-Minister Impasse: Minority Accuses Majority of Unilateral Decision-Making.

The Minority in Parliament has disclosed that the Majority members on the Information and Communication Committee have rejected their invitation for an amicable settlement over the DSTV impasse.

According to Dr. Kabiru Tia-Mahama, Deputy Ranking Member on the Committee, the Majority’s refusal to meet has exacerbated the turmoil within the committee, with the Minority accusing them of taking unilateral decisions without consensus.

The controversy surrounds the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, and his handling of the DSTV pricing issue.

The Minister had initially demanded a 30% reduction in DSTV subscription prices but later announced an upgrade in service offerings instead.

The Minority has criticized the Minister’s actions, accusing him of misleading Ghanaians and wasting public resources
