President Mahama Welcomes Cardinal Turkson Back Home
H.E the President John Dramani Mahama welcomed Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson back home yesterday evening. The warm reception came after Cardinal Turkson agreed to preach the sermon at the first National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service.
Cardinal Turkson humbly noted that responding to the President’s call was a duty he couldn’t ignore, saying, “If the President of your country calls, you can’t say no.” He emphasized the crucial role the church and government must play in guiding the nation towards development and democracy.
The Cardinal highlighted the potential for the church to utilize its structures in promoting sustainability. He mentioned a pilot project currently underway in Nigeria, which the Catholic Church plans to replicate globally.
Cardinal Turkson expressed gratitude to President Mahama for inviting him to preach at the Thanksgiving Service. This gesture underscores the collaborative spirit between the government and the church in fostering national unity and progress.
