BOSOMTWE DCE CUTS SOD FOR 6-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK AT AKOKOFE; SAYS EDUCATION REMAINS HIS HALLMARK

Akokofe – Bosomtwe District, Ashanti Region

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Hon. Engineer Abdallah Hamidu, has cut sod for the construction of a 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Akokofe in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.

The project, which is being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), is expected to include a staff common room, headteacher’s office, library, and modern washroom facilities to replace the current dilapidated structure serving the Akokofe D/A Basic School.

The sod-cutting ceremony held on Tuesday, was attended by the District Coordinating Director, District Director of Education, Chiefs and Elders of Akokofe, Assembly Member for Akokofe Electoral Area, Nana Akwasi Asare Nyansapor, staff of the Assembly, teachers, students and residents.

Cutting the sod, Ing. Abdallah Hamidu said the project forms part of his administration’s deliberate agenda to eliminate schools under trees and decongest overcrowded classrooms across the district.

According to him, Bosomtwe’s future depends on the quality of education given to its children today.

“Education is my hallmark. It is the foundation upon which every development agenda thrives. Without education, we cannot build the Bosomtwe we all desire,” the DCE stated.

“From day one, I said my leadership will be one of action, openness and accountability. This classroom block is a demonstration of that promise.

I am committed to education now and always. No child in Bosomtwe should learn under a tree or in a death-trap structure when we have the means to change it,” he added.

Ing. Hamidu assured the people that his administration will continue to invest heavily in educational infrastructure, teacher bangalore, and serene learning environment, adding that several other communities in Bosomtwe will have  the same benefited from the national cake.

He called on the contractor to deliver quality work on schedule and urged the community to own and protect the project.

Nana sako Adu Panin  Akokofehene, on behalf of the community, expressed gratitude to the DCE and the Assembly for the intervention, noting that the new block will greatly improve teaching and learning and increase enrollment.

Construction is expected to be completed within six months.
