Kumasi, Ghana – St Luke R/C Basic School marked a milestone for its pupils and the Anyinam community on May 22, 2026, as it held its graduation ceremony and highlighted major strides in infrastructure, discipline, and enrollment.
The event, held at the school premises, was chaired by the Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Rev Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, and attended by clergy, school management, traditional leaders, parents, staff, and distinguished guests.
Delivering the keynote address, Headmistress Rev Sr. Marian Antwi described graduation as “not an end, but a proud checkpoint in a journey of learning, growth, and character formation.”
She congratulated the graduating class of 2026 and urged them to carry forward the values of integrity, discipline, respect, and love for learning.
STEM Lab and Enrollment Growth Highlight Progress
Rev.Sr. Marian Antwi announced the completion of the school’s new STEM Laboratory, built with support from stakeholders. The lab will provide learners with hands-on experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
“This laboratory now provides our learners with hands-on experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is a space where curiosity comes alive, and where the scientists, engineers, and innovators of tomorrow are being nurtured right here at St Luke R/C Basic School,” she said.
She also reported a significant rise in enrollment, with the school now serving 650 students. According to Rev.Sr.Marian Antwi, the increase reflects growing trust from parents and guardians in the school’s academic and moral formation.
Academically, she said learners performed well in both internal and external examinations, including the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). She credited the results to teachers’ dedication and students’ perseverance.
Discipline and Community Support Recognized
The headmistress emphasized that academic success must be matched with character formation. She praised students for demonstrating good conduct within and outside the school, noting that discipline remains a core pillar of St Luke R/C Basic School’s culture.
Rev.Sr. Marian Antwi expressed gratitude to the School Management Committee, parents, teachers, support staff, and partners for their role in making the STEM lab and other projects possible. “No achievement is possible alone,” she said.
Challenges Remain
Despite the progress,Rev. Sr. Marian Antwi acknowledged three pressing challenges: inadequate classrooms due to rising enrollment, erosion on the school compound affecting safety and outdoor activities, and limited access to computers in the new STEM lab.
“As we celebrate these successes, we must also be honest about the hurdles we face together,” she told attendees.
Looking Ahead
The school aims to continue improving facilities, strengthening academic programs, and preparing learners to compete globally while staying rooted in Ghanaian values.
“Today’s ceremony is a celebration of what we can achieve when a school, parents, and the community work together,” Rev. Sr. Marian Antwi said in closing. “To our graduands, go forth and shine. Make us proud, and remember that St Luke R/C Basic School will always be your home.”
