Oforikrom: NSA Ashanti Director Marks Birthday with Support for Over 350 BECE Candidates

More than 350 candidates preparing to sit for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region have received support from the Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Reagan Fynn.

The support, which coincided with the Director’s birthday, saw the distribution of essential examination materials, including boxes of mathematical sets and pens, to selected candidates across the municipality.

The gesture formed part of efforts to assist students ahead of the nationwide examination.

Presenting the items, Mr Fynn explained that the decision to mark his birthday with such an initiative was informed by the need to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people, particularly those at a critical stage of their academic journey.

He noted that the period leading up to the BECE is often associated with pressure and anxiety, and providing candidates with basic materials could help ease some of their burdens.

Speaking to the media after the presentation, he indicated that with less than a week to the commencement of the examinations, it was important to offer both practical support and encouragement to the candidates.

According to him, while the items donated may appear modest, they are essential tools required for the exams and could contribute to boosting the confidence of the students.

Mr Fynn further urged the candidates to remain focused and disciplined in their final days of preparation, advising them to make good use of their time and approach the examination with determination.

He also encouraged them to believe in their abilities and strive to achieve good results.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Oforikrom, Anwel Saddat, who was present at the event, commended the initiative and described it as timely.

He assured that the Assembly has made the necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and orderly conduct of the BECE within the municipality.

According to him, adequate measures have been put in place in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to provide a conducive environment for the candidates during the examination period.

He also used the opportunity to call on parents and guardians to offer the needed support to their wards, particularly during this crucial stage of their education.

Some of the beneficiary candidates expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the items would be useful as they prepare to write their examinations.

The 2026 BECE is expected to commence in the coming days, with candidates across the country making final preparations toward the examination.
