Willingway Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre Launches Koforidua Campaign Against Drug Abuse.

 

The Willingway Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre, a lead advocate against drug abuse and addiction as part of its commitments to coil the menace on Saturday 14th February, 2026 stormed the Eastern region’s capital, Koforidua with it’s usual Streets Advocacy and Public education on the Influence, the Cause and the effects of abusing certain drugs and addiction.

The Campaign focuses the official introduction of The Facility’s Branch at Koforidua Suhyen, in the Eastern region. The Facility has serene environments to cater for its admissions as well as nice offices for administrative works.

The Campaign saw massive attendance of people from various institutions, both private and state who are stakeholders in matters concerning mental health.

Participating institutions include the Ghana police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, Ambulance service, The Drug Law Enforcement Unit in the Eastern region all were present to support the program.

Other institutions like the National Youth Authority, Koforidua SDA Hospital, Officers from the Eastern region psychiatric, the Ghana Health Service, Koforidua Regional Hospital and the Eastern regional command of the Narcotics Control Commission, NACOC.

Students from the Oti Boateng Senior High school , together with with their tutors as well as some identifiable associations were all in their numbers at the program.

This year’s campaign was under the theme, The World Can Use me for Something important and was aiming at cautioning the General Public, the adverse effect on taking in those Psycho Active drugs, excessive intake of alcohol, Cannabis and other substances that cause brain relapses.

Some personalities who also attended the event include Legendary Musician, Akosua Agyapong, Evangelist Suro Nyame, a social media Influencer, Gunshot.

In an interview with Oyerepa FM’s Okogyeabour Ocran, the Chief executive Officer for Willingway Recovery and Rehabilitation centre, Lydia Abena Manu Adofo advised the Ghanaians, especially the youth to refrain from drug and other substances abuse.

According to Lydia Abena Manu Adofo, drug abuse and its addiction has a catastrophic damage to health and the life of human.

In her assertions, she called on the state to as matter of concern institute a strict law and policies to make sure Ghana wins the war again Drug abuse and addiction as she believes it has a long term damage on generations.

She bemoaned the state’s low attention to the problem and appealed to the Government and other stakeholders to treat drug abuse and addiction as a National security threat.

She therefore extended her heartfelt gratitude to all the participants of the program, acknowledging the unwavering commitment of all the institutions and individuals who came to support the event.

She announced her readiness to help the government in collaboration with her Facility to bring the rising situation under control.
