A Kenyan member of parliament, Charles Ong’ondo Were, has been shot dead in a brazen attack in Nairobi.

Gunmen on a motorcycle targeted the MP’s vehicle, and one of the attackers shot him at close range.
Investigation Underway
Police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga described the crime as “targeted and predetermined.” Authorities are investigating the incident, and President William Ruto has ordered a thorough probe to bring those responsible to justice.
Fellow legislators, including Parliament Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, expressed shock and outrage at the killing.

The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but the MP had previously claimed that some individuals were plotting to assassinate him due to local politics.
Raila Odinga, leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, condemned the killing, describing it as a cold-blooded assassination.
Odinga called for swift justice and remembered the MP as a “gallant son of the soil.”.
