The MPs emphasized that the devastating impact of galamsey on the country’s environment, economy, and future generations demands a nationalistic approach to eradicate the menace.

The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis Xavier Sosu, expressed deep concern about the destruction caused by galamsey, warning that if left unchecked, it would have severe consequences for the country’s resource allocation and future generations. Hon. Sosu urged Ghanaians to adopt a united stance in tackling the issue.

Former Defence Minister and MP for Bimbilla, Dominic Nitiwul, echoed Hon. Sosu’s sentiments, calling for a heightened security presence to effectively deal with the galamsey menace.

Hon. Nitiwul lamented the severe impact of galamsey on cocoa production, citing the destruction of cocoa farms to make way for illegal mining sites. He urged the government to take decisive action to end the menace.

The galamsey crisis has sparked widespread concern among Ghanaians, with many calling for urgent action to protect the country’s environment and natural resources.
