Mahama Pledges Decent Jobs and Economic Stability on Workers’ Day.

 

As Ghana marks this year’s May Day celebrations, President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering decent jobs, strengthening the economy, and ensuring social justice for workers.

In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Mahama paid tribute to Ghanaian workers, describing them as the backbone of the nation’s development.

The President highlighted his government’s focus on creating an enabling environment for workers to thrive.

He emphasized the importance of sustainable policies that promote economic growth and fair labor conditions, aligning with this year’s May Day theme: “Striving for Peace and Stability to Drive Industrialisation, Trade, and Decent Work for Social Justice.”

 

Mahama outlined several initiatives launched within the first four months of his return to office, including policies aimed at stabilizing the economy, advancing industrialization, and boosting job creation. Key initiatives include:

 

– *24-hour economy initiative*: A flagship program designed to promote economic growth and job creation.

– *National Apprenticeship Programme*: Launched by the National Youth Authority to provide skills training and employment opportunities.

– *Adwumawura and One Million Coders programmes*: Initiatives aimed at building a skilled workforce and creating dignified employment opportunities.

He assured Ghanaians of sustained investments in education, skills development, and infrastructure to drive economic transformation.
