NDC Factional Challenges in Fight Against Galamsey: Minister Highlights Party Members’ Involvement
The fight against illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana is facing significant challenges due to involvement of some involvement of members from the ruling party.
Eric Opoku, Ghana’s Minister for Agriculture, disclosed this in a statement on September 28, 2025.
Speaking on the difficulties in combating galamsey, Minister Opoku stated that some members of the party are either conniving with illegal miners or are themselves involved in the practice.
“The fight against galamsey has become difficult for President Mahama because some of our party members are conniving with illegal miners, and others are themselves involved in galamsey.
Now how can you fight your own people? That’s the sad reality the President is facing now.”
