Breaking News: Ghana Immigration Service Officer Killed, Another Injured in Attack at Gbintri Checkpoint.
A tragic incident occurred at the Gbintri inland checkpoint in the East Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region.
Two Ghana Immigration Service officers were attacked, resulting in the death of Assistant Immigration Control Officer II Rafiq Mohammed and serious injury to AICOII Oppong Daniel.

The attack happened around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025. Oppong Daniel is currently receiving medical attention at the Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu.
Preliminary investigations have uncovered an AK-47 shell casing and a GIS-issued rifle at the scene.
A joint team comprising officers from the Ghana Police Service and GIS has been deployed to investigate the attack.
