Inshore Fishing Vessel “Joy George” Involved in Accident at Sea

 

An inshore fishing vessel, “Joy George” (CR 338-EL), was involved in an accident at sea after hitting a rock during its voyage, resulting in leakage. Fortunately, all 23 crew members on board are safe and have returned to their homes.

The vessel is currently located in the brake waters of Elmina Castle. The Fisheries Commission’s Technical Team responded quickly to the situation, towing the vessel to safety.

According to Nettesheim Kwame Damoah, Regional Director of Fisheries, Central Region, the vessel is scheduled to be towed ashore tomorrow, August 21, 2025, at 12:00 noon.

The prompt response by the Fisheries Commission’s Technical Team helped prevent any further damage or harm. The incident is currently under investigation, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
