Manhyia Palace bans all funerals in Asanteman on August 21.

Manhyia Palace bans all funerals in Asanteman on August 21.

The Manhyia Palace has announced a suspension of all funerals across Asanteman on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to make way for the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The directive follows a briefing by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to the Asanteman Council on Monday, August 11, 2025, regarding the passing of the revered Queen Mother, who died peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

The commemorative rites will be held at Bogyawe, Manhyia Palace, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on the day of the ban.

The measure is intended to allow the King, the royal family, and the entire Ashanti Kingdom to gather without distraction and honour the life and legacy of the Queen Mother.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III was a towering figure in the Ashanti Kingdom, serving as a custodian of tradition, a unifying symbol, and a nurturing mother to her people.

Her leadership and devotion to Ashanti customs earned her profound respect both within and beyond the kingdom.

The Palace has indicated that further details of the funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming weeks
