Regional Police Commander Assures Region Will Not Experience The Bawku-Clash Spillage.
The Upper West Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr. Darko Offei Lomotey, has assured residents that the Region will not experience violent disturbances similar to the protracted spillage of Bawku fight.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Regional Police Headquarters in Wa on Friday, August 1, 2025, DCOP Lomotey outlined the Command’s firm commitment to sustaining peace through decisive prosecutions, well-coordinated crime-fighting strategies, and proactive community engagement.
His assurance followed a question from a journalist regarding the potential for similar conflicts in the Region, in light of recent tensions and spillovers from other parts of the country.
According to DCOP Lomotey, the Regional Command has held multiple engagements with community leaders, traditional authorities, and youth groups to strengthen trust and cooperation. These interactions, he noted, have resulted in a mutual resolve to preserve the peaceful environment that the Region enjoys.
“We have an open line of communication with all communities, and together we are committed to preventing any form of violence. The Police are taking proactive steps to safeguard every resident and ensure that peace is never compromised,” he stated.
He added that intelligence-led patrols, targeted security operations, and enhanced Police visibility have been intensified in key areas, alongside rapid-response arrangements to neutralize emerging threats before they escalate.
The Regional Police Commander called on residents to continue working hand-in-hand with the Police by sharing information on suspicious activities and refraining from acts that could disturb the peace.
