Offinsomanhemaa Advises Parents to Monitor Children’s Social Media Use and Associations
The Offinsomanhemaa, Nana Adwoa Afranewaa Ill, has cautioned parents and guardians to be vigilant about their children’s associations and social media activities, citing the negative impact it can have on their lives.
According to Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III, “The use of social media is helping our youth, though but we have turned it into negativity.
Even elders sit on social media insulting each other Which our youth also learn same thing you will see a young person insulting elders without any fears and panic, the negative use of social media has had a bad influence on the youth which has introduce our youngest children to betting and gambling, improper dressing, and bad behavior all over.”
She emphasized the importance of parents taking responsibility for monitoring their children’s activities, including how they use their money .
“We should make sure we know what our children use our money for some of our youth take money from us to buy data watching phonographics images and unnecessary things on social media. As parents, we should monitor their going and coming.”
The Offinsomanhemaa also expressed concern about the dressing habits of some youths, stating that “the kind of dresses some of the youth put on is sometimes disgusting.” She urged parents and guardians to teach children the cultural values and norms of their forebears, rather than allowing them to adopt negative behaviors.
Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III stressed that “it’s our responsibility as parents, teachers, traditional leaders, and all to take our responsibilities of doing that.” She called on all stakeholders to work together to ensure that children are guided towards a positive and productive path.
