50 Fire Volunteers Trained on Bushfire Prevention in Donkorkrom
The Donkorkrom Fire Station, in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has trained 50 fire volunteers on bushfire prevention and control techniques.
The training, which took place at Odumase in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District, aimed to equip the volunteers with the necessary skills to effectively manage and prevent bushfires in the area.
The training focused on key provisions of Act 229 (1990) and the importance of the local Bushfire Bye-Law.
The fire volunteers received hands-on training on how to douse bushfires effectively using fresh palm fronds. This practical approach will enable them to respond quickly and efficiently in the event of a bushfire.
Bushfires can have devastating effects on the environment, wildlife, and local communities.
The training highlights the importance of bushfire prevention and control in protecting Ghana’s natural resources and promoting sustainable development.
The training of fire volunteers is a testament to the commitment of the Donkorkrom Fire Station and the EPA to engage with local communities and build their capacity to manage and respond to emergencies.
By empowering local residents with the knowledge and skills to prevent and control bushfires, the initiative aims to reduce the risk of bushfires and promote a safer environment.
