Ahafo Region: Minister and DCE Urge Dialogue Over Newmont Protests.

The Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, and the District Chief Executive for Asutifi North, Hafiz Dauda, are calling for dialogue between Newmont and its host communities to resolve grievances peacefully.

They emphasized that protests can lead to property destruction and violent clashes, harming both parties.

The officials acknowledged that Newmont’s decisions may not always meet community expectations but stressed that dialogue is the most constructive path forward.

Newmont raised concerns about illegal mining and speculative structures within its concession, and steps are being taken to address these issues.
