Supreme Court Nullifies Arrest Warrant Against Kevin Taylor
The Supreme Court has quashed a bench warrant issued against US-based Ghanaian journalist Kevin Taylor in a 4-1 majority decision.
The warrant, issued in January 2020 by Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, was declared null and void following a legal challenged.
The arrest warrant was issued after Taylor circulated a video on Facebook deemed offensive and injurious to the administration of justice.
Taylor had accused Justice Kyei-Baffour of being elevated to the Court of Appeal as a reward for allegedly doing the government’s bidding in a trial.
The Supreme Court’s decision marks a significant legal victory for Taylor, who maintained that the warrant was unjust.
The ruling reaffirms the principle of due process and brings an end to the years-long controversy surrounding the arrest order.
