Call for By-Election as “Insensitive”

Minority Slams Majority Leader’s Call for By-Election as “Insensitive”

The Minority in Parliament has criticized Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga’s insistence on proceeding with the processes to declare the Akwatia seat vacant following the death of MP Ernest Yaw Kumi.

The Minority caucus staged a walkout, describing Ayariga’s comments as “insensitive” and “unfortunate” due to the timing.

The Minority’s reaction stems from the perceived insensitivity of the Majority Leader’s comments, which were made shortly after the MP’s passing.

The caucus believes that the timing of the communication was inappropriate and showed a lack of empathy

In protest, the Minority members walked out of the parliamentary chamber, expressing their discontent with the Majority Leader’s stance.

This development highlights the growing tensions between the two sides over the handling of the vacant seat.

The Majority Leader’s call for the by-election processes to proceed has sparked controversy, with the Minority arguing that the timing is insensitive.

The debate underscores the complexities of parliamentary procedures and the need for empathy in times of bereavement.
