Chairman Wontumi to Report to Police CID Amid Ongoing Investigations
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is set to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service this week. The development comes amid ongoing investigations into serious allegations, including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.

The Director-General of the CID, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, confirmed that Chairman Wontumi is expected to appear before the CID this week. She disclosed that the Chairman’s legal team had informed the CID about his health condition, which led to a brief postponement.
The case is believed to be linked to the operations of Akonta Mining, a company Chairman Wontumi is associated with. According to DCOP Donkor, several individuals, including one identified as Akuakor, are also under investigation in connection with the company’s dealings.
